Tommy Whisper

It’s the early years of the twentieth century in Ireland and the landlords have started to lose their grip on the land and Ireland’s small farms have started to become established. The farm horse is at the centre of Irish farming life. Tommy Whisper, the son of a widowed farmer’s wife, has a keen interest in the land along with a love of horses and has ambitions to take over the farm from his mother, find a wife and settle down. However, when his mother denies him his birthright, he is forced to make a difficult decision which leads him into a life of isolation and loneliness. He finds solace in the land, his horses and his growing friendship with his new step-daughter. But when she is sent off to school, he is lonelier than ever. When he is at his lowest, however, his life takes a most unexpected turn which changes everything and Tommy is faced with yet another difficult decision.
