Bessie

This short play highlights Bessie, a young woman who has discovered a fool-proof way to live comfortably at a time when women survived by their wits. Egged on by her nefarious mother, Bessie employs lethal tactics to safeguard her interests. And when a pair of misinformed detectives attempts to expose Bessie’s devious little scheme, they are met with consequences that could mean life or death in a society which guards titles and statuses more vehemently than reputation.
