A kitten.
An orphan kitten.
Cute as a button.
Bagas was overwhelmed with pity.
Mela couldn’t restrain herself from adopting that cute little thing.
Meanwhile, Lisa, the furry queen of the house, was instantly repulsive toward the kitten. She protested her adoptive parents’ decision in any way she could.
Not heeding Lisa’s warning signs, the newlywed couple kept the kitten. And, just like how the other scary stories begin, strange occurrences started to emerge:
The missing food, the broken refrigerator, and the sexual harassment in the bedroom. All those supposed to clearly warn that clueless couple that something wasn’t right. They completely ignored those signs until their lives were threatened.
Bagas and Mela could only hope that they still got time to, somehow, handle the ‘situation.’ Regretting that they kept entrusting their judgment to what they see before their eyes, though eyes aren’t as pure as the heart.
Someone said that however close we observe something, it doesn’t mean that we can see it. On the contrary, our hearts don’t need eyes to see. The heart can identify good and bad instantly.
Sometimes taking a little distance could help us to see things more clearly and to feel more deeply. Especially from things that seemed pretty. Looked timid, weak, and powerless.
Anything could be cute as a button.
But also vicious like a hyena.
Happy reading.
I'd be honored if you'd take a look at my other books.
