When I was growing up on our family farm on McDonald Road, it did not have a name. It was one lane, paved with dusty gravel from a nearby glacial deposit. The neighboring farm belonged to the McDonalds. They lived on the farm located near Porter Park and the creek. It is in Harlem Township but has a Roscoe postal address. I have been searching for more information about the McDonald family living there. I remember Grace McDonald Barnes and Chuck McDonald. Chuck was living there and Grace with her two sons occasionally visited. Marvin and Mourice would join us boys down by the creek to play. I think that the family of John McDonald once lived there. He died in July 1939 at the home of his daughter Grace Barnes in Roscoe. The 1920 Federal census lists the McDonald family next to the one where my father Kenneth was living. He, with his Uncle John, and grandmother Jane Ralston. John McDonald was the son of Duncan and Isabella Ralston McDonald, the parents were born in Scotland and came to this country in 1850 aboard the sailing ship Charlotte Harrison as did my ancestor John Ralston and family.
