The author has recounted a few of the adventures he has experienced in his career as a commercial fisherman.
He has worked on over 70 fishing boats in the last 23 years. Being a crabber on the Bering Sea is known as the world's most dangerous occupation. He has seen his share of exciting incidents including seeing four men go overboard into the icy waters. Also he's seen many broken bones and numerous other injuries. He has been shipwrecked 3 times and three boats sank the next trip after he got off them.
There some exciting stories about other people and boats also in the book as well. They are all true even though many are hard to believe.
