DEADLY DESTINY

Cindy and Danny Haskett had been married for two years and were childless by choice, waiting until they were more financially secure. One evening as an act of kindness by loading her bike in his pickup and giving her a ride home in the rain from the Fire and Rescue Department meeting, she invites Nick Blazerak in for a Coke. Danny, an OTR driver, is headed to Montana. Awakening at 5:20 the next morning, Cindy realizes immediately that Nick had drugged and raped her. She soon discovers she's pregnant. Two weeks later Nick is killed, shot in the back. Investigators have no suspect. For two years the case remains unsolved until a sudden and highly unusual turn of events occurs. Brad Rodell, the Badger County District Attorney, charges a suspect with first-degree intentional homicide. Len Kriter, a local defense attorney known throughout Wisconsin for gaining acquittals in several other exceptional cases, represents the defendant.
