"One Summer In France" describes the author's sensual encounters in France during his first visit there as a young man, his love affair with France, and his decision to live in the French Alps after a career in the foreign service.
The author casts a humorous eye on French behaviour and attitudes; and describes the bizarre encounters that some of his more eccentric friends have had with the French.
