The Microsoft Network was at first a membership-based dial-up online administration that later turned into an Internet specialist organization named MSN Dial-up. In the meantime, the organization propelled another web-based interface named Microsoft Internet Start and set it as the primary default landing page of Internet Explorer, its internet browser. In 1998, Microsoft renamed and moved this web-based interface to the area name www.msn.com, where it has remained.
