The Boy from Ebbw Vale

I was born in Ebbw Vale in 1925. When its Steelworks closed in 1929 there was about 50%%%% unemployment, lasting for seven years. Growing up in such an environment had a profound effect on me: I developed a deep fear of being unemployed. My aim in writing these verses is to bring you some of the observations and thoughts I have experienced during my life, and to make you think about problems people faced in the past.
