Most kids are told to "just be nice" or "use kind words," but no one gives them the language for what friendship actually feels like · who is safe, who is not, and what to do when a relationship goes sideways. The Trust Framework changes that. Written for middle and high school aged students, and for the adults trying to help them, this book offers a shared vocabulary for the social world. Students learn to recognize three dimensions of trust · 1D Group Trust, 2D Opinion Trust, and 3D Emotional Trust · along with the difference between connecting behaviors and the controlling "shadow" behaviors that can quietly take their place. None of the three is better than another. The goal is not more friends or perfect friendships. It is giving young people words for what they are already feeling, so they can make choices that protect their wellbeing and build connections that are authentic to them. For parents, teachers, counselors, and clinicians, this book is also a bridge. So many adults want to talk with their kids about social struggles but do not know where to start, or watch a conversation shut down before it begins. When a family or a classroom shares the same language, those conversations get easier. A child can name what happened, and an adult can respond without judgment or blame. Social conflict does not know age. We do not grow out of confusing friendships or wondering whether we can trust someone with the real us. This book gives kids and the adults in their lives a way to finally talk about it together.
