Humanity has long relied on alcohol, drugs, and stimulants to silence the restless “software of the mind.” But can this program, originally designed to manage our material existence, ever relinquish its grip on our deeper relationships—with life, with ourselves, and with others? This book confronts urgent questions: Have we become eternal hostages to reason and institutions? Can the mind, which stores memories, judgments, and comparisons, truly comprehend life itself—something greater than its own mechanisms? What distances us from our essence, paralyzes our innate nature, and reduces our relationships to mere calculations of utility? Has existence, shaped over millions of years, been reduced to a futile game in the hands of a small elite? Through a philosophical and poetic lens, the author explores humanity’s primal state before the tyranny of logic, and the transformation that followed. Written in solitude in the Mauritanian desert and later refined on the Atlantic coast of Senegal, this work is the fruit of years of reflection and a search for truth. It is both a meditation and a rupture: a break between a structured life dominated by reason and institutions, and a free life where instinct, intuition, and nature prevail. Originally composed in Arabic and later translated into English, this book invites readers to confront the boundaries of the mind and rediscover the essence of human existence.
