Captain Gabriel Archer is a direct ancestor of my wife, whose maiden name was also Archer. He is a famous man in America, more so than in the UK, due to him being one of the earliest settlers into the colonies and in particular, Jamestown USA. He can be Googled quite easily and this is his story, based on what we know so far and with a little bit of added spice to flavour the dish a little. I am extremely proud, even through marriage only, to be related to this guy, so I created a story based on his life.
