This is a mad idea I had once when studying my family tree and realising I was related to Lady Cecily of York and a whole bunch of Plantagenets who were denied the crown, so what if their claim still existed today? Surely the crown should then pass to their primary ancestor who is next in line? So, I wrote this novel with that in mind, knowing or suspecting that I am in the running for playing at being King. It is one big joke, of course, but it raises the possibilities, since the late Queen came to the throne and Elizabeth I before her, that Charles and William may be interlopers who do not deserve the crown they wear or will wear. It is a bit of fun, so keep an open mind.
