Drought has ravaged the land for months and people are starving. Marea leaves her small village to seek a better life in the large port city of Valia. She soon learns that her prospects are hampered by the city’s age old prejudges, and she has to come to terms with herself and her perceived role in society. Maybe even do something about it.
