Mumbai's Eastern Waterfront

The Urban Design program at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation has a commitment to engage in the most pressing global issues of our time. Mumbai’s Eastern Waterfront (EWF) was selected as the 2010 Studio site as issues such as rapid urban growth, inequity in access to physical, economic and social infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and complexity of stakeholder relationships converge here. The studio challenged its diverse and international student body to engage with these realities and produce ideas that could contribute positively to the current debate about the future of the EWF.
