The Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) is located on the Southeast coast of China to the western bank of the Pearl River Delta. Bordering on Zhuhai Special Economic Zone of Guangdong Province in the north, opposite Hong Kong in the east, the Macau Special Administrative Region has an area of 23.5 square kilometres, comprised of the Macau Peninsula, the islands of Taipa and Coloane. The total population is over 400,000, of which about 96% are Chinese, the remaining are mostly Portuguese. It is called Macau in Portuguese and Macao in English.With a long history of 400 years, the blend of both oriental and western culture makes it a distinctive tourist city. Macau is reputed as “The Monte Carlo of the Orient”.
