The author has been sailing in and around San Francisco waters, Central America and the Caribbean for about 40 years. During much of that time, he was employed to write visual simulation software at NASA Ames Research Center. His university education focused on math, computer science and cybernetics and he holds a BA and MS degree from San Jose State University. When not traveling on his 39 foot yacht, he stays busy traveling by train.
