Larry Lee Hatfield was born in pre-War 1940 at home in a little house built by his father in Trosky, a tiny farming community in southwestern Minnesota, prior to the arrival of the country doctor who’d stopped along his way to attend first to some ailing farm animal. His education included bachelor studies in mathematics & astrophysics at the U of Minnesota, masters in mathematics at W Michigan U, and doctorate in mathematics education back at UM. His career includes the U of Georgia (Josiah T. Meigs Distinguished Teaching Emeritus Professor of Mathematics Education), Teachers College-Columbia U, National Science Foundation, and the U of Wyoming (WY Excellence Emeritus Professor of Mathematics Education). He resides in Athens GA and East Boothbay ME with his beloved wife, Carolyn, and with whom he enjoys the families of their six children and seven grandchildren in California, Colorado, Louisiana, and Georgia.
