A proposito di
Iain Gelston

Iain is an award winning player of the Border or Half Long Pipes, having won the open competitions at Morpeth Gathering, Rothbury Traditional Music Festival, the Northumbrian Pipers’ Society, Bellingham Show and the Lowland and Border Pipers’ Society in Glasgow. He plays both solo and as part of the Tyneside based folk band Lowp. Steeped in the traditional music of the North East of England and the Borders, Iain takes his inspiration from the long standing connection between Northern English, Scottish and Irish music, in particular the older forms and styles of the 18th century. The music he plays generally comes from collections such as that of William Dixon (1733) and William Vickers (1770), both local musicians and collectors of music. Iain's compositions combine the essence of this 18th century music with a 21st century outlook.
