A proposito di
Joseph Scale

Joseph Scale is a third-generation musician, author, and educator with over 18 years of experience dedicated to making the underlying mechanics of music accessible to everyone. Whether he is breaking down the shifting time signatures of progressive metal or teaching the foundational building blocks of active listening, his work bridges the gap between complex academic theory and everyday appreciation. As a specialist in 20th and 21st-century rhythmic analysis, post-tonal popular music, and the mathematics of music, his research focuses on the structural complexity and compositional overlap between progressive rock and contemporary concert music. On the foundational side of music education, he is the author of The Listener's Guide to Awesome Music, designed to give readers of all ages the tools to understand and engage with the music they love on a deeper level. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance with a Jazz Emphasis from the Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory and a Master of Science in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University. Currently based in Magnolia, Texas, he works as a middle school band director, technology instructor, and the Music Director for the School of Rock. When he isn't in the classroom or writing, he composes avant-garde percussion and piano music and performs in the heavy acoustic-synthetic math-rock duo, Posthuman Ensemble.
