Hello, to all of you who don't know me. Hi to all of you that do. There's an obvious distinction between hello and hi, I believe, and I'd like to take a minute to describe it. Hi, it would appear, is a much less formal and professional greeting, that is better suited for a friend, relative, or somebody with whom one has established comfortable connections to. Hello, on the other hand, is the greeting for greetings. It is courteous to meet somebody for the first time with "hello" so as to begin to build a strong relationship that'll eventually merit a "hi." This is the distinction between the two. This is an example of my idiosyncrasies at work. This is me.
