A couple years ago, I began posting music playlists on my blog. It was a way to share my love of music and to show appreciation and gratitude to the fans for their undying support of me and Noah's Arc. On the seventh of every month, readers would find a selection of songs, all falling under a particular theme and arranged to tell a story. Soul music about loss and longing. Dance music about sex and nightlife. World music about atonement and surrender...and so on. I’d get so excited about coming up with stories to tell through the playlists that I eventually began to include a written short story, just to really drive home the ‘theme.’ I would use the songs to score the story’s action and emotional arc like a movie soundtrack. After posting the first 3 stories, it became clear that my readers were far more interested in the lives of the characters I was creating to justify my music selections than they were in my playlists. So...I figured I'd work on writing stories full-time.
