After leaving the United Methodist Church and joining the Global Methodist Church (GMC), I had no idea how we had lost touch with Methodism, as taught by John Wesley. Plenty of discipleship books exist for adults that focus on building a relationship with God, but Sunday School material that teaches kids discipleship in the 'Wesleyan way' is hard to find. With approval from my teacher in the Course of Study, I have adapted his adult discipleship book for children. It teaches them who God is, what God has done, and how God wants to relate to us. First is a picture book for little kids. It makes an excellent story-time book for sharing or even something to read at bedtime. Second is a Sunday School, home school, or a 'teach your kids faith' book for elementary-aged students. It comes with a leader's guide that has activities and discussion questions. Kids should be taught to be disciples, too! Let's not rob them of the opportunity to develop a relationship with God.
