This is a novel about a young and very intelligent girl who, through the intervention of a store clerk, escaped the stifling Social Services foster care system to become a very fortunate young woman. Set in Alaska, Washington state, and Oregon it gets into areas such as abuse in foster care, elitism in school athletics, drug smuggling and Alaska native villages.
