This study began with the hybridization of two complex
systems. The hybridizing process created a primitive that
maintained each of the original characteristics. These
elements allow for docking and locked rotation on a lap
joint. These two movements allow the piece flexibility.
We constructed a module composed of ten parts. The
module showcases the effectiveness of both the docking
and locked rotation. The locked rotation allows the module
to reconfigure itself without disconnecting pieces. The
module was repeated ten times to create the possibility of
human scale that can be reconfiguring into four theater
types. The locked rotation allows for reconfiguring from
theater to theater without the need to disassemble each
piece.
