Afet İnan (October 30, 1908, Thessaloniki – June 8, 1985, Ankara) was a Turkish sociologist, historian, and academic. She was the adopted daughter of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
As one of the first history professors of the Republic, Afet İnan established the Chair of the History of the Turkish Revolution at the Ankara University Faculty of Languages, History and Geography. She authored approximately 50 books and numerous articles on Turkish civilization and the history of the revolution. She was among the historians who formulated the Turkish History Thesis.
