Ribbed Romper and Sleepy Hat Knitting Pattern

This is a fairly easy step by step beginner friendly knitting pattern to help you make a cute knit set for a baby - a romper and a hat. Both hat and romper can be used as functional everyday clothing, or as a photo prop. The romper comes in newborn size (it is meant to be worn when the baby is just born – for the first two weeks; this is also the size that is usually preferred by newborn photographers and most often used as a photo prop), in 3-6 months size and in 6-12 months size (if it is used in photography, photographers will often refer to this as “sitter size”, meaning, it is for a baby who can sit unassisted). The hat comes in newborn, 0-3 months, 6-12 months, and 12-24 months sizes. This pattern’s gauge is 20 stitches in 4 inches / 10cm over stockinette stitch, it is designed for Worsted weight yarn. For most, 4mm (6 US) knitting needles will be the most suitable to knit this. There is a list of recommended yarns and recommended needle size for each yarn, yet treat that as a recommendation only. Please check the recommended needle size on your yarn label and make your gauge sample to make sure you end up making a knit garment that really fits! The romper is knit in the round, the hat is knit flat.
