Oak Tree Camp is a friendly woodland where a small group of Squirrel friends try new things, help others, and “earn their badges” without ever calling them “badges” in the stories. This makes the stories equally accessible to young children outside of Scouting too. Core characters: Scouty – curious, eager, sometimes rushes ahead; Hazel – kind, thoughtful, notices feelings; Pip – energetic, loves moving and noise; Moss – quiet, practical, good at problem solving; Leader Owl – calm adult presence, explains gently. Each story follows the same rhythm (important for ages 4–6): Opening problem (something small and relatable); Trying together (with mistakes allowed); Learning moment (kindness, safety, teamwork); Success (not perfect, just proud); Call to action (“What could you try?”).
