Alan Cudcourt moves to the sleepy village of Shrivenham to stay with family following the tragic death of his mother. As he struggles to settle into his new life and cope with his ongoing medical treatments, mysterious things start to happen in the village. At first the strange happenings are a great source of interest and amusing banter for the bored locals, but soon, when the bizarre events turn into a growing number of tragic incidents, the locals fear for their lives and begin to point the finger at those close to them.
