Numerical Exercises for Recorder
This ebook may not meet accessibility standards and may not be fully compatible with assistive technologies.
For these exercises I have used just numbers instead of musical notation.
The numbers indicate the holes to be closed, so the exercises can be used with any type of recorder.
The idea behind this work is to exercise finger movements that are very rarely, if ever, encountered in musical practice; some of these positions, in fact, don’t correspond to any note.
The problem is that in a normal piece of baroque music we meet a certain movement a hundred, maybe a thousand times, while another may occur just once. It is this one that creates problems for us, and will always do so, precisely because it is rare.
In these exercises I have tried to list ALL the possible movements with the 8 holes of the recorder, using them once each so that by practising them you work in the same way both on the common shifts and on those which are rare or new.
