This book is an attempt at conveying the feeling of exploring the unknown, when many surprises await you whenever you turn a corner or cross the street. Reading travel guides is never enough to prepare you for the trip, for travel guides attempt to hurriedly explain away the city’s history and secrets and condense hundreds of years of character into a few hundred pages. Nor can travel guides describe everything: there are always one or two places that you stumble upon yourself by complete accident. And of course, there are some things that you need to see for yourself to truly appreciate.
