Gina McCann is a history professor at UC Berkeley. For the five years prior to her taking up teaching though she was a ghost hunter with her best friend Mary. A tragedy that occurred one October 2002 night though caused them to make a fateful promise to each other to call it quits. However, when an older couple from a small southern town just outside of Montgomery calls on her experience in the field she can’t turn it down. Breaking a promise and thrusting herself into a shocking secret from her past. Motives of people she trusted are soon challenged as she tries to unravel exactly what is going on in this southern plantation home before it is too late.
