This case study book seeks to answer why it is critical for a peacebuilder to address unresolved trauma and transform the effects of systemic and structural violence that cause a trauma genic event in their own lives. Is there any link between personal and collective trauma? Can we address the underlying causes of trauma on a personal level without also addressing collective trauma in a broader context? How can we find hope, healing, and resilience to turn trauma into a source of strategic peacebuilding, particularly in trauma healing?
I will draw on my personal experience dealing with racialized discrimination and trauma. I will discuss how we can transform trauma through a trauma-sensitive biblical, theological, pastoral, and missiological perspective, drawing on several practitioners and the experiences of individuals or communities who have demonstrated resilience in the face of trauma, particularly racialized trauma.
