Analytical Diagrams

As a long serving Systems Consultant, I am excited about the draft diagrammatical techniques. They are proving their worth in a troublesome area of systematic data processing: the analysis and definition of what a new or a converted system should do if it is to be of most value to the people who are paying for it. The discipline consists of an evolving set of tools and techniques which have grown out of the success of structured analysis and the use of diagrams. The underlined concept is the building of a logical model of a system, using graphical techniques which enable users to get a clear picture of the system-to-be and how its parts will fit together to meet the users requirements. The overall methodology is based on the principles of building a system top-down by successive refinement; first producing a hand drawn data flow, then developing detailed data flows in draft modes, until the users agree that the modelling will very closely represent their needs, as their original requirements were listed.
