False Activity Syndrome

There has been an explosion of powerful communications technology which is altering the very nature of who we are, and our relationship to the society around us and the people in it. What was once private is becoming public, and what was once public space is becoming a socially enclosed environment where the individual shields themselves from interaction with others through technology. Many think nothing of sharing intimate details of their lives with potentially millions of people, and at the same time, once public spaces are becoming places filled with hyper individuated people, zoned out on smartphones and other communication devices. People are becoming less aware of each other in the public spaces of our towns and cities.
