The Gospels - King James Version

At The Wood Book, we handcraft individual books of the Bible in a style inspired by the earliest surviving Christian manuscripts. This book, The Gospels, is based on our handcrafted originals. One of the first things you will notice about this book is that much of it is presented in a handwritten style. Because the first Christian books were written by hand and passed from individual to individual, we base our lettering on the calligraphy of ancient Greek and Coptic texts. By using this handwritten style, we acknowledge that God moves as God always has, from one person to the next. You will also notice the illustrations before each gospel. These designs are based on ancient Mediterranean and Medieval art, and our hope is that they strengthen the impact of major themes within each gospel. Our goal is to pass along to you a Bible that honors both Divine Fire and the human creative spirit.
