“The Crimson Trail” is a Dixon Hawke detective story published in 1921. Dixon Hawke is modelled on two famous forerunners, Sherlock Holmes and Sexton Blake. It is of particular interest that the number of stories featuring Dixon Hawke greatly outnumber those of the other two fictional detectives. In the current story, Dixon Hawke investigates the murder of five wealthy businessmen one after another. A young man has confessed to one of the murders, but Hawke does not believe that he is guilty. Instead, the famous detective is convinced that a gang called The League of the Copper Triangle is responsibe.
