Ben’s sister is born into the world and his mum leaves it screaming. His sister becomes terribly sick. He is confused and heartbroken. Part of him blames his sister for his mum’s death.
In the aftermath, Ben tries to recreate the bedtime stories about chimps his mum told him.
His dad struggles to keep a roof over their head as Ben struggles not blame his sister for his mum’s absence.
Soon enough, Ben’s stories start taking on a life of their own and they become more elaborate – so much so that he starts writing them down and tell his friends.
His dad finds someone else who is perfect for him but his grief and the though betraying his (dead) wife get in the way.
How does a family move on after a tragedy?
