Explicit Content
This book is meant to shine a light on the darkness that plagues mothers and daughters who grow up in lower socioeconomic statuses. Antoinette Johnson aims to highlight the importance of healing within the family, no matter what race, religion, or background you are.
This is a collection of her experiences being raised by toxic women and how they influenced her identity today. She describes in detail the subtle microaggressions that occur between mother and daughter, and how unhealed toxic interactions can lead to major breakdowns within the family.
Suddenly becoming an empty nester at the age of 35, Antoinette must embark on a spiritual quest to confront her unhealed wounds, and release the past so that she can repair the damaged relationship with her teenaged daughter.
As she begins to heal, she realizes how much happier she is knowing that she got a second chance at life. She began to take advantage of herself – in a good way and changed her perspective on the situation. Instead of being a victim, she was able to start over and see what she is truly made of.
