“We speak to Him when we pray; we hear Him when we read the divine saying.” - Saint Ambrose, De Officiis Ministrorum
God speaks directly to us in the Scriptures, but many times, we are unsure how to begin. Through the ancient art of lectio divina, divine reading, we can learn to hear God and savor His voice. Including fine art from the Aquinas Learning Cycle 1 Catechism books, selected passages from Scripture, and the four steps of lectio divina, this text will complement the Catechism course on the Old Testament. Pre-readers will benefit from using the artwork as their lectio (reading), but beholding this beautiful artwork will aid Catholics of all ages in the meditatio (meditation), contemplatio (contemplation), and oratio (prayer) of their lectio divina.
Ecce opus. Behold the (art)work.
