This is the first in a series of six sequels or prequels to major works of Melodrama in Cinema and Literature.
Apocalypse Now (and then?)- (ANAT)- is, naturally, the follow-up to the more widely known Apocalypse Now (which is, loosely, the sequel to the less widely known Heart of Darkness).
ANAT follows Woody Allen's profound observation that Time + Tragedy = Comedy. So in our story the Charlie Sheen character, Marlowe (doubling as the lead from Heart of Darkness too (2)) is tracked down by the powers that be for one final mission.
Marlowe has to find Kurtz's widow and inform her of her husband's demise. She is tracked down to an excellent hotel in Skegness where she is a landlady.
ANAT is a short story/ screenplay with pithy witticisms, gags to choke on and a happy ending! It even has an unhealthy Oedipal strain running through it!
What more could you ask for in a 40 minute pastiche?
