Ava Leigh Stewart's "Broadside Ballads" is a compilation of essays, each piece accompanied by quote from digital media or an Internet meme, combined with her reaction based on news stories, life, and history. This work was inspired by the idea of taking a modern day look at how technology influences our thoughts and perceptions, creating a new kind of broadside ballad in the digital age. Broadside Ballads were historically used in England to communicate news stories through the use of art, music, and stories. This work was inspired by the idea to reinvent the concept for the digital age. Also taking a moment to analyze the way that technology inspires thoughts and moods.
