Volume 2 features the now defunct Masonic Veterans Association of the District of Columbia (MVA). Established in 1879, the MVA became an exclusive Masonic club for Albert Pike and his close colleagues in Washington. This volume reproduces the MVA’s earliest meeting ledgers to better understand early activities, membership, and Pike’s often overlooked commentary on mortality, friendship, and Masonic politics. The author, B. Chris Ruli, is a researcher and historian of early American Freemasonry and author of The White House and the Freemasons. He has served as historian and archivist for a number of Masonic organizations in Washington, D.C. and led efforts to improve access to scholarly Masonic research through digitization.
