My Second Half

My Second Half is a book about a young girl growing up in the present day, learning to look deep within herself for the person she wants to be with the assistance of a very close friend. Mackenzie’s friend Jody teaches her to be herself instead of allowing the world to mold her into a common image. Their relationship never dies, because Jody gives everything she has to helping Mackenzie become a strong young lady, ignoring her companion’s changing wishes to sometimes listen and other times push her advice away. Jody does so by emphasizing the importance of savoring every second of childhood, because this is when a person’s true dreams for the future are born. Jody is unusual, because she refuses to meet with any of Mackenzie’s other companions or relatives, remaining hidden from human eyes. Several strange clues arise throughout the book to hint her identity. Finally, when Mackenzie is certain of the person she is, Jody reveals her secret in a surprise ending.
