You will enjoy this book, written with wit, humour and compassion, about pupils and teachers living and working in an area of urban deprivation. The title reveals the writer’s surprise at the demands of her job, from the trivial to the terrifying, and there were clearly not many dull moments in her busy life as a guidance teacher.
Her wry observations are certainly amusing but these real life stories are also challenging and thought provoking, very relevant at a time when society professes to be concerned about equal opportunities and social inclusion.
