This a paradox of an old man called Modokaye, a Langi tribe from northern Uganda. Modokaye had fled from his ancestral village while still a young man and settled in town. In Lira, he came across an Indian who gave him job as a cleaner and later shop keeper. When the Indian later died he inherited his vast riches making him one of the richest men by then in the area. With population expansion, his age failing him , and the quick growth of Lira town the wave of development caught Modokaye bare footed, and he together with the son he had born while in the village, planned to return to their ancestral land. Unluckily for Modokaye, his only son, Acan later passed away. A local business tycoon, Makmot Too, plunged himself into a land dispute with Acan’s only son, Acelam. The book details how running away from a small problem can lead you into a much bigger dilemma as in the case of Mzee Modokaye.
