At the beginning of the Fall 2011 semester, eleven people gathered together at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College’s Boone campus for English 121: Creative Writing. These people are from all walks of life, live in different places, and have their own unique personalities; however, despite all of their differences, they signed up for the class because of one similarity: their shared passion for writing. The biggest project of the class was the Epic Story. This started with everyone in the class coming up with a first line to the story, with one being unanimously chosen by the class. Using that first line of the story as a springboard, the first person added to the story. Then, one by one, in alphabetical order, the story made its way to each person in the class and was developed. The determination of the class to finish the story says lengths about the special and unique people that made the class so exceptional.
