About Brandon Koons, Youth Sports Education

Brandon Koons finished his 25th season with the Otterbein University Women's Team in 2023, having led the Cardinals to 11 Ohio Athletic Conference regular-season championships, seven OAC Tournament titles and seven appearances in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament. Koons took over in 1999 leading the Cards to a then-school record nine wins. Otterbein reset school records from 2000-03 before setting the current record of 20 in three separate seasons. The program made three-straight NCAA appearances from '04-'06 then delivered the most successful three-year run in OAC history spanning 2008-10, advancing to the NCAA Sweet 16 each fall and becoming the first OAC team to make the Final Four. Otterbein finished the 2010 run with an undefeated 20-0-4 record, falling only to eventual national champion Hardin-Simmons in penalty kicks. Koons has a Master's Degree in Teaching, a USSF "B" License, an NSCAA Premier Diploma and NSCAA State and Regional Goalkeeping Diplomas. He is a frequent contributor to the NSCAA Soccer Journal and has authored eight DVDs for Championship Productions. In 2003, Koons worked with FIFA on the Technical Study for the 2003 Women's World Cup. Koons began coaching at the age of 16, helping his father coach his sister's team. Since then, he has coached thousands of players in club soccer and camps. Additionally, Brandon guided two daughters through youth sports and has worked as a director in numerous clubs, most recently Polaris Soccer Club.
