In Greek mythology, Procrustes was a robber who lived near Elevsis in Attica. He acquired the name Procrustes meaning “The Stretcher” because he adjusted the size of his victims by cutting them down to fit his bed if they were too tall putting them to the rack to stretch them if they were too short. Of course, the bed was secretly adjustable.
Anaprocrustean means "against Procrustes." This of my scribblings have been neither cut down nor stretched to be a certain size.
