Originally published in 1919 (bearing the pseudonym Clive Hamilton), <i>Spirits in Bondage: A Lyric Cycle</i> is C. S. Lewis' earliest known publication.<br><br>The man who would later become known as the greatest Christian author of his time wrote these poems several years before his conversion to Christianity. They represent the work of a poet who was "very angry at God for not existing" and who was enthralled with Celtic myth and lore.
